NYC Shotokan Karate Dojo was founded by sensei George Goshadze, who joined Baruch College in 2001 as an MBA student and has since been teaching Karate Course 1310 as part of the college's physical education program.
Sensei Goshadze (Godan, SKIF) is a top level Shotokan Karate instructor with over 30 years teaching experience. He was a founder and chief instructor of one of the most successful dojos of country of Georgia and has produced numerous national champions.
Beginning in 2012, dojo opened its doors to the people outside of the college. Our mission is to establish a real, powerful karate school in Manhattan based not only on the best traditions and true spirit of karate, but also on its genuine understanding and practical application in the modern world.
Baruch College generously provides us with state of the art facilities, and we are perfectly equipped not only for our daily practices but also for events of any scale. On top of unlimited karate classes, those with advanced membership can have full access to the college's fitness center (including gym and pool).
We are an official branch of SKIF - Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation, but we welcome a close relationship with every authentic karate organization and every dedicated karateka in the world.
Beginners and/or practitioners of any level (above age 8) are very much encouraged to join us. You will quickly build your skills in our two hour classes, much sooner than you might ever expect.
